Well the election page can no longer be found here at cjferry.com.
While I have not decided whether to run or not, but I have moved all information about a potential run for office and any campaign information to a new site.
The campaign web site is now located at Elect CJ Ferry State Representative
I want to express my thanks for your continued support and well wishes.
Well we have had our first snow storm of the season and as usual, it is a bigger mess after the snow plowing than it was before the plowing. You have to ask why?
While Ken Pacheco and the DPW are doing their best with what they have, their best really isn’t good enough! The City and the DPW will have you believe that we don’t have the money, we don’t have any place to put the snow and the citizens do not assist with the entire process, some of which is very true. The one thing that no one talks about though is that we are not removing the snow we are moving the snow.
All the City does is move the snow from one place to another creating more problems, mess and aggravation for the citizens, for traffic and for safety personnel. We need to stop snow moving and start snow removal. In the mid west where two to three feet of snow in one snow fall is not uncommon, they have it down to a science. They do not plow snow, they remove it. Using specialized equipment, the cities, towns and state remove the snow using large snow blower type devices attached to the front of large trucks and they blow the snow into large dump trucks that travel behind the removal truck and capture the snow which is then taken to local parks and dumped there for it to thaw out. This removes the snow from the streets making parking available almost immediately, leaving streets open and does not create safety hazards by creating huge mounds of snow on street corners at intersections.
Yes this will take a change in the way we manage snow in the City and yes it will require some change by City contractors and vehicles including some capital outlays for new equipment, but if we start this plan now and start to slowly implement it with the new equipment purchases, the City will be safer when we have large snow falls.
We as a City need to start looking at what works elsewhere in the country and elsewhere in the Commonwealth. We need to adopt those methods which improve public safety and cost effectiveness while truly benefiting the people of Fall River.
Well it’s been another year and we now start looking forward to the holiday season and the New Year.
I want to look at what I have to be thankful for, my family, my friends, life and just being a citizens of one of the greatest countries in the world. While the entire country is currently on the precipice of change, Fall River is not too far behind.
We as citizens need to be in the fore front of change and more importantly of responsibility. We need to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions and their in actions. They need to remember that they are and were elected to represent we the people and not me the individual.
Here in Massachusetts, election season is not over, it is once again just beginning. With the special election for a replacement for Sen. Ted Kennedy, the Massachusetts electorate has the opportunity to change the face of Massachusetts and of Massachusetts Politics. I ask, beg and implore you all to look at the candidate, not the party, not their affiliations, but at the person. Find out what they stand for, what they will do and what they will get for Massachusetts. It is time to end the ignorant selection of a political representative and time to make informed decisions.
Be thankful that we as a country have the opportunity to elect our representatives, be thankful that we live in a free country (at least for now), and be thankful that God has blessed us all with all the gifts that we have individually and as a country.
I want to thank you all for listening to my commentary and giving it consideration. I want to thank all of our servicemen for their service to our country and I am thankful for the protections they provide us.
Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your day, family and health.
Today is Veteran’s Day and I must first say, I want to thank all of our service men and women for their service to our country and to our veterans thank you for your service.
I have to say that I was and have been extremely disappointed with the showing here in Fall River to support our veterans and our service men and women. I look around the country and see the outpouring of love, affection and support for our veterans and military personnel, not only for their service, but when they deploy and when they return, not here in Fall River.
For some odd reason, the people of Fall River do not come out and support our veterans nor do they wish our military personnel well when they deploy and give them a great big welcome home when they return. I watch the news and I see communities right over the border throwing welcome home celebrations, farewell groups to say stay safe and Veteran’s Day celebrations where their is an outpouring of support and pride.
What is wrong with Fall River, the people of Fall River and the community as a whole. HAve we become so self absorbed that we no longer care? I want you all to think, What if this was my son, my daughter, my father or my brother? Is this the way I want them to be treated.
Fall River’s motto “We’ll Try” and the new Correia motto, “Pride, City Wide” are not even close to being met by the City, the people or the community. Is it any wonder why Fall River has such a poor reputation.
So next time you see a member of our Armed Forces, reach out, offer them a handshake and say “Thanks for your service!” When you see a Veteran do the same, these loyal, patriotic men and women deserve the best our country has to offer and the best that we as a people, as a community and as a City need to offer.
Think about it for one moment!
To my great non-surprise, the incumbents in the City Council and School Committee races stayed in place! Amazing isn’t it.
There has been no great outcry for change, again. At the begining of this election season all we heard was change, change, change. As Isaid then, Fall River will not see any change and as usual I AM RIGHT!
When will the people of Fall River learn that if you do not come out and vote and make a difference, You get the representation that you deserve.
In the Mayoral race we saw some change, whether that change was caused by Mayor Correia and the percepotion that he did not care about the city or came about because he just ticked off all the wrong people, it came in an unprecedented fashion, an incumbenty Mayor did not get through the primary. The end result was Will Flanagan was elected to be the youngest Mayor in Fal River’s history.
But as predicted in the City Council and School Comnitte races the incompetant elected official were re-elected by an uninformed and ignorant electorate that do not look at the cause of the problems in Fall River, but look at what did my vote cost this politician.
The greatest voting block in Fall River is its elderly. A populace that has long since not cared about where Fall River goes it seems. The cities vote machines located in every elderly complex is so located so that the primary voting block continues to re-elect nit-wits and self serving politicians. If you want to see change in Fall River move the polling places out of these elederly compolexes and into other public buildings and watch our voter turn out drop even further.
Why can there be no change in Fall River. Because the voter does not care about the issues, nor do they care about the future. They care about right now and what will the city give to me. This continual apathy and selfishness will continue to erode the fabric of our once great city.
Fall River has become a welfare city. IT only exists because of what the State gives us and we can not be self sufficient. Every politician says we can not change that right away, I say bull! You can’t do it right away because you do not want to. You can immediately implement plans to change that, yes it will hurt, yes it will costs some dollars. When we start to invest in the future of our city and stop serving up our assets to the politically connected and useless agencies which have yet to produce anything for Fall River or its people, that is when we will start to grow and become a better place to live.
Fall River demands better that what we have had, MAyor-elect Flanagan has promised us some changes, but I feel he may meet a great amount of resistance from the City Council and the School Committee, both of which always serve there own self interest.
I left this election last night, more disillusioned about Fall River than I ever have. I have been speking with voters today who all have said, “Why bother?”, “My vote doesn’t count the bums always stay in”. Is Fall River doomed to keep reliving its past mistakes? Will Fall River ever be great again?
People of Fall River, Mr. Mayor-elect, Coty Council, School Committee and every elected official: Fall River is burning, and like Nero you all sit there and watch the city burn, playing your fiddle of propaganda and misdirection and say it’s beautiful and it is working. The schools are excellent, the jobs are here and like the Pied piper of Hamlin the people of Fall River seem to fall into line and say it’s beautiful there is nothing wrong.
Steve Dias or Burnsville, MN, formerly of Pine St in Fall River says that there is a black hole above the city of Fall Rover that sucks the intelligence out of the city, well Steve I have my protective helmet on and I see what you mean. Fall River does not want responsible people to represent them, they want people who will continue to lie to them about the state of the city and allow them to believe that everything is ok and we don’t have to worry.
Wake up Fall River, the city is burning and we need to take responsibilty and put the fire out.
